The Port Authority of València (PAV) has approved an update to its Environmental and Energy Policy, aligning it with the port’s Strategic Plan 2035 and Net Zero Plan.

Under the updated policy, Valenciaport aims to strengthen its role as a facilitator of more sustainable and efficient global logistics supply chains, embedding sustainable management responsibilities across the organisation and extending that commitment to companies operating within its public domain, as well as customers, suppliers and other stakeholders across the port and logistics sector.
The policy also commits the port to periodically analysing its activities, products and services to identify and manage associated environmental risks, alongside preventing and minimising environmental impacts, providing staff training, calculating the port’s carbon footprint, and encouraging stakeholder involvement in the port system’s energy transition.
To support this decarbonisation drive, the Board of Directors approved the delegation of the necessary procedures to the Chair of the Port Authority to launch a tender for the construction of a new substation.
The €15.6 million project, co-financed by the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), will double the port’s power capacity, a step the port said is decisive for operational reliability and environmental sustainability.
The Board also approved several infrastructure and concession decisions at the port’s facilities. An agreement with the City Council of València will establish a training and development centre for recreational boating and water sports at La Marina, on the site currently occupied by the Sailing School, with a focus on public, sporting, educational and social use, as well as adaptive sports and inclusion programmes.
Following a public tender evaluation, the Board selected the bid submitted by VALENCIA INNOVATION DISTRICT for the establishment of a technology and innovation business centre at EFO 16 Building in La Marina de València, intended for entrepreneurship, offices, training and events.
The Board also authorised a non-substantial amendment to the concession held by MARINA PORT VALENCIA, extending its concession area by 6,200 square metres of land near Marina Sur, adjacent to the commercial port.
At the Port of Sagunto, the Board approved a substantial amendment to the concession held by BERSOLAZ SPAIN, extending the water area by 39,785 square metres to support the second phase of a project modernising, relocating and expanding aquaculture facilities used for farming seabream, seabass and meagre.
